CV writing
Your personal profile is the company's first impression of you therefore you should spend time on devising a good one. It is important to consider the type of role you are submitting your CV for and match your profile to this.
The CV must grab the attention of the reader therefore the ideal length is 2 pages (maximum of 3)
Factual information should be at the top with i.e.
- Name
- Nationality
- Marital Status
Followed by:
- Education and Training (qualifications and courses attended)
- Computer Literacy
- Work History - this should start with most recent role and work back to cover at least 10 - 15 years where possible. This is best written in the 'third' person and should cover main duties, responsibilities, skills and experience
- Dates should run on and where there is a gap this should be explained
- The descriptions of roles should show level of responsibility, specific tasks and duties involved, but not too wordy otherwise the reader will switch off
- Hobbies and Interests - these are good if you have not had a long work history, or relate to the work you are looking for
Reasons for leaving are always a negative so leave these off
It is always worth getting your CV proof read and spell checked by another person
